The Rocket Spanish conversational learning program comes from Rocket Languages founded in 2004, to aid people who want to learn the essentials of various popular languages. Rocket Languages offers four component language programs including Interactive Audio Lessons, Learning Games, Grammar Newsletters and Downloadable Books with embedded audio.
Qualifications and Credentials
Rocket Languages is a member of ACTEL, the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. The Rocket Languages website is certified by FTA, Free Trade Authority.com and is a secure site. The profiles of the cast of characters behind, Rocket Languages reads like a listing of Rhodes Scholars. Pictures of instructors for each Rocket Languages course, their credentials and interesting tidbits about each person personalizes the introductory webpages included in Rocket Spanish website.
Benefits Of The Program
Using the Rocket Languages program many people have learned to converse with ease in other languages. Rocket Languages offers lessons in Spanish, French, American Sign Language, Italian, German, Japanese and Chinese. Today international travel is a part of many people’s lives. Jobs take people to places they have only read about and now they must learn a second language to survive in another country.
Some people need to learn Spanish or another language in a short period of time and enroll in an adult education class. Others search for language courses on the internet and others go to an Office Supply store searching for CD’s and other materials to learn conversational Spanish or another language. Some spend a lot of money and then discover they are not learning all the course, CD’s and books promised they would learn. Others somehow found a website called Rocket Languages and based on reviews learned what they needed to learn.
Someone told me about Rocket Spanish. After a few minutes of reading through the various webpages, curiosity led me to click on one of the purple buttons, I noticed on a webpage. Suddenly, the pretty, young woman in her college cap and gown began speaking about her experience with Rocket Spanish. The audio clip is a very positive review of her experience with Rocket Spanish in preparation for a trip to Costa Rica and Thailand. Her classroom was her car; she practiced the audio interactive lessons while driving to and from her college classes during her senior year. Her ability to communicate with ease among the people she met in Costa Rica, gave her the confidence to listen, learn, and speak some Thai phrases while in Thailand.
Interesting things about this system
Reading on I found a few more purple buttons symbolizing embedded audio, however there was no response when clicked on the buttons. It took a few minutes to figure out why. The secret to opening the other audio clips is submitting a name (first name will do) and valid email address for six free lessons. With skepticism I submitted the information and in seconds a message and link were in the email inbox. I clicked the designated link and there appeared some of the pages where I previously clicked unresponsive purple buttons. I followed the link and laughed to myself while thinking I wonder if I remember any Spanish phrases. I clicked on the purple button and listened as Mauricio Evlampieff, the author Rocket Spanish and Amy Waterman an instructor began teaching. I did remember and had fun practicing with Amy and Mauricio!
A Fast Focus On The Lessons
Lesson 1-Part 1. Part1. Greetings in Spanish (audio lesson)
As they speak, you listen then practice with them and alone. The only difference between this lesson and a classroom lesson is they do not hear you as you mimic the sound of their Spanish Greeting to each other. The emphasis of this lesson is on (a) seeing the words, (b) listening/ hearing the enunciation of each word and phrase, (c) speaking aloud each word and phrase and
(d) mimicking the pronunciation of each word and phrase (e) repeating the conversation between Amy and Mauricio reading from text of the lesson.
I must say, it was a refreshing experience for me because I have not attempted to speak Spanish for many years. Truly a sound teaching method and one used by teachers throughout the world. I am a little excited as I wait to receive tomorrow’s lesson; Part 2 of Lesson 1- Greeting Explained, (text lesson) this lesson will explain the grammar and symbols used in the Spanish written words of the Part 1. The titles for the additional four parts of Lesson 1 will arrive over the next five days.
- Part 3-Introducing Yourself in Spanish (audio lesson)
- Part 4-Introductions Explained (text lesson)
- Part 5-Getting What You Want (audio)
- Part 6-Ordering Explained (text lesson)
Amy Waterman is from United States and her native language is English. Amy learned to speak Spanish fluently while working in the Andes Mountain region of Ecuador. Amy developed the audio using the concept of Interactive listening. Everyone regardless of age or native language learned to speak by listening to sound. The sound of voices, whistles, bells, crying and laughing are all part of the learning process, which taught us to speak and exchange words with others in conversation.
Purchase Price And Options
Those who decide to purchase the full Rocket Spanish program can do so, on secure webpage. Check cards and PayPal payments can be used for purchase at $99.95. The program can be downloaded when the payment process is complete. An additional 31 lessons will accompany the existing program. Audio can be downloaded to an MP3 Player.
Rocket Spanish is well designed and user-friendly site however it is truly an E-commerce site. I would suggest it as good site to check out for anyone interested in learning Conversational Spanish, Grammar, Parts of Speech and Symbols used in Written Spanish and much more.
NOTE: Submitting a valid email is the only way to activate the audio clips embedded in the webpages at Rocket Spanish. This fact was not stated in the marketing material on the website and could cause some people to leave the site. It is important to know this because purchase is necessary before additional purple buttons can activate the embedded audios in the program.
